Ram 1500 pickup truck is no joke. Why are we so certain to say that and why we want to see 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat? Well, Ram pickups won several awards in 1994, 2003 and 2010. The 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was named Pickup of the Year at the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) “Mudfest”. The 2016 Ram 1500 was awarded the prestigious Full-Size Pickup of Texas+ by the Texas Auto Writers Association. We are sure that is enough.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Possibility
There is a certain element that Ram could improve and that is the safety rating. Model for 2016 had an overall good rating in testing done by IIHS, but some elements could be improved. But apart from that, we’ll talk about the possibility of putting a Hellcat unit on SRT (Street and Racing Technology) trim. In other words, you could have every best part ever made in one vehicle practically becoming 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat. Well, that sounds awesome. But the problem is that Ram CEO Bob Hegbloom sad “At this time, I would say no.” regarding a Hellcat-powered Ram truck. Apart from what he said, we strongly believe that he just doesn’t want to reveal company’s plans. If that is the case then let’s get to the point of what it might look like.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Redesign
In some way, power is nothing when the aggressive look isn’t present. But with a new hood and famous Hellcat scoop, you will get just that. In addition to that chrome badges “Supercharged” and “SRT” on front fender and grille will give you the feel that this truck is not messing with you. Fog lights and fenders will also get redesigned. With all power from Hellcat unit, there is need to improve stability. And for that, 22 and 24-inch wheels will be put on 2017 Ram SRT Hellcat. Large Brembo brakes will be used for stopping power. The whole truck is lowered, so the center of gravity will be dropped, even more improving appearance. To handle Hellcat power suspension will also be improved.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Interior
The interior should also be updated and we are expecting major changes. We already said that Ram engineers wanted to improve comfort with Ram Rampage. So heavily bolstered seats will come in play and a possibility of Alcantara inserts. An SRT-branded gauge cluster is also expected with some carbon-fiber accents. As for the equipment, 2017 Ram SRT Hellcat will have an 8.4-inch Uconnect system as standard, while for the audio they might take 900-watt Harmon Kardon unit from the Charger.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Hellcat Engine
The drivetrain is what we are the most excited about. But there isn’t any speculations and much to talk about. If Ram pickup gets Hellcat unit it will have great numbers. It’s a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces amazing 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque which will be sent to rear wheels, while some would like an optional 4×4. So with 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat you will certainly enough to wake entire neighborhood. A thing we can speculate is 0-60 mph mark. Since the SRT with 500 horsepower goes a little under five seconds to 60 mph mark, with a Hellcat unit we can expect a time closer to four seconds. Just for comparison Dodge Challenger with this unit has a whopping 3.9 seconds from 0-60 mph mark and that’s fast.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Possible Price
All this would be great, but with all those improvements in 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat, there could be something that isn’t that great. And we talk about price. We can use a certain number of elements on what we could speculate the price. For starters Challengers and Chargers with Hellcat option costs around $15.000 more than just SRT version. Since the Ram doesn’t currently have an SRT trim, we could use most expensive 5.7-liter HEMI-powered Ram 1500 Limited as starting point and its price, $56.200. So with added SRT trim and Hellcat engine, the price for 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat could go higher. Maybe it isn’t that much for this piece of machinery.
2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Release Date
And know all we have to do is to pray that we are correct with the assumption that Ram CEO is just holding back the truth and that FCA will give a green light for this amazing model. If that’s the case we could expect 2017 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat in last quarter of 2017.
