SUV market is expanding even more. Every third vehicle sold from Audi lineup begins with Q, thus, Audi will add another SUV in their lineup. With 2018 Audi Q8, Audi aims at BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and Range Rover. And they will not stop at this new flagship SUV, they will later unveil SQ8 as well. Audi previewed the new Q8 with Concept this year. We can right away see that it is similar to the Q7, it shares similar footprint. It’s 198 inches long while it has 117.7-inch long wheelbase. But it’s also 1.57 inches lower than Q7. While some feasted eyes on the concept at Detroit Motor Show, photographers caught new production ready 2018 Audi Q8 testing in frozen Scandinavia. And we can right away see that many design cues will be taken from the concept.
2018 Audi Q8 – Exterior Design
Since it’s not entirely wrapped in heavy camo, we can see its coupe-like roofline. On the front dominates much wider than we’re accustomed to, eight-corner Singleframe grille, with trapezoid LED headlights on each side. The grille also comes with a number of vertical chrome strips. It will have a five-door layout with four doors for occupants and large power-tailgate. 2018 Audi Q8 will use the latest MLB Evo platform. The structure will be composed mostly out of aluminum, while other parts will have carbon fiber material, so the curb weight should be below 4.400 pounds.

2018 Audi Q8 – Luxury Interior
While the info about the interior is at this moment not available, we are pretty sure that it will be a combination between the Q7 and the concept. While the concept has seating for four occupants, the 2018 Audi Q8 will come with a five-seating layout. And that will be the only option, unlike Q7 which comes with seven seats. Features like Virtual Cockpit, heads-up display, MMI interface will likely come as standard since Q8 will arrive as the new SUV flagship. While the Concept isn’t equipped with semi-autonomous driving tech, the production version will have certain features. Some advanced features should be taken from the new A8 flagship, as well.
2018 Audi Q8 – Engines
The new 2018 Audi Q8 will come with V6 and V8 engines with turbochargers. So, we expect 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines, but the diesel probably won’t reach the North American market. At a later date, there will also be a plug-in hybrid. Eight-speed automatic transmission will be responsible for gear shifting. Audi Quattro AWD system will also be available.
