Audi makes all sorts of models including high-performance S line. But the top of the crème has to be Audi R8. While S and RS models slightly differ in design from base A models, R8 is a whole different story. But, then again, this isn’t your everyday car that you use for going to get groceries. It is a mid-engine sports car with a powerful V10 engine. But 2018 Audi R8 brings many changes. One of them is the new engine.

2018 Audi R8 – Exterior Details
As for design, Audi R8 needs no special introduction. Its wide and low stance helps us feel that it can cut through corners like a hot knife through butter. The sculpted hood slopes in large Singleframe mesh grille which look pretty aggressive, while below thin LED headlights there are also two vertical portions of mesh. Once you pass the protruding fenders line go inwards across the door to make airflow for another vertical mesh intake. After that, aggressive rear fenders are pronounced to give the whole car muscular look. The rear part is complemented with LED rear lights with dynamic turn signals. A sports car wouldn’t be a sport without spoiler which on R8 extends at 75 mph.
2018 Audi R8 – Updated Interior
The interior is like on any other Audi model, luxurious. With fine Nappa leather, heated seats, you’ll sit comfortably as it can be. Those are 18-way power seats including 4-way lumbar support and pneumatic seat bottom. There are all sorts of technology like Audi Virtual Cockpit, MMI interface with navigation and handwriting technology. The multifunctional steering wheel is, of course, standard but R8 comes with four round buttons on it, for Start/Stop Engine, drive select mode, etc.

2018 Audi R8 – New Engine
The most important part of a sports car is, of course, engine. And the main news is that 2018 Audi R8 will get new entry engine. The current R8 carried over only the 5.2-liter TFSI V10 producing 540 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. There is also the same but a more powerful version, V10 Plus producing 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. This engine will remain under the hood of 2018 Audi R8 but as a top offer. There were rumors that R8 will receive twin turbo 4.0-liter V8, but that won’t be the case. First, the problem is mid-engine position and cooling issue, and not only that but the horsepower from this engine would come close to existing V10.
So the 2018 Audi will arrive with a twin turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine which will produce around 450 horsepower. It is the same engine from Audi S4 but with more modifications to push the number of horsepower. While some say that new R8 will come with the eight-speed automatic transmission, more realistic would be that seven-speed S Tronic will remain. And, of course, Audi Quattro AWD system is standard.

2018 Audi R8 – Release Date
The release date of 2018 Audi R8 will be in early 2018, while the price should go lower for the base V6 option. But we hardly believe that it will be lower than $160.000.
