We are already accustomed to only the best from Bentley Motors. And this trend of fine luxury cars will surely continue. For those who haven’t heard Bentley introduced EXP 10 Speed 6 concept at Geneva Motor Show in 2015. They then stated that EXP 10 is “future direction of luxury and performance”. And that is really coming to realization since new 2018 Bentley Continental GT is based on mentioned concept. Just to make things clear. Although this third-generation GT is based on the concept it isn’t a replacement for it. EXP 10 wasn’t just made for guidance lines for other models. It will be available purely as a two-seater sports car somewhere between 2018-2020 since it got the green light for production. But let’s get back to Continental GT.
2018 Bentley Continental GT – Platform
Current Continental GT shares platform with Volkswagen Phaeton, but that will no longer be the case. British carmaker will use shortened version of Porsche’s MSB platform. Bentley (and Bugatti) boss Wolfgang Durheimer said that it will be significantly lighter than the outgoing model. Engineers made a platform from high-strength steel but unlike the steel made body next GT will have aluminum based one. That will result in significant decrease in weight, below the current weight of 5235 pounds. Some reports say that it might drop below 4400 pounds. Besides that 2018 Bentley Continental GT will adopt sleeker and more dynamic design. But then again, it won’t stray too much from Bentley key design features.

2018 Bentley Continental GT – Interior
Although at this point there is no way we can tell what will interior look like, we can take a “wild guess” that it will also be based on the above-mentioned concept. With a few differences of course. So we expect that similar instrument panel will do the trick along quilted leather seats and door panels. But the main focus is put on the large central display screen. Other than that, we expect full digital gauge cluster and three-spoke steering wheel. Even if these are just speculations we really think that interior of 2018 Bentley Continental GT won’t stray too much from the concept.
2018 Bentley Continental GT – Drivetrains
The current range of drivetrains isn’t a mystery. The carmaker will continue to use V8 and W12 engines. The W12 is the same twin-turbo 6.0-liter but this time with a somewhat higher output than the current one. Mentioned number is 600 horsepower, slightly smaller than in GT Speed which has 616 and 626 horsepower. Engineers will also update the 4.0-liter V8 but at this time its output power isn’t available, but it will surely be higher than the current one. Also, there is no word about any new transmissions so expect eight-speed automatic to remain. But there is a word that 2018 Bentley Continental GT will be available with a plug-in hybrid option.
In 2007 Juha Kankkunen, broke the World Speed Record on Ice in Bentley Continental GT Speed reaching a top speed of 205.67 mph beating the previous one of 183.9 mph.
2018 Bentley Continental GT – Release Date And Possible Price
Next generation GT will possibly be unveiled in the first quarter of 2017. And the start of sales will come later that year. As for the price is concerned, if we take that the current model is currently priced $195.000, we can surely say that 2018 Bentley Continental GT will have a price tag of around $200.000, if not more. Finally, new Aston Martin DB11 is the main competitor of new GT. But Mercedes-AMG SL65 also might jeopardize good sales of new Continental GT.
