2018 BMW 4-Series Facelift

BMW introduced 4-Series not long ago; it is a successor to the E92 model of the 3-Series. Although not as popular as the 3-Series, 4-Series took a chunk of the market, in the last three years sales were around 40.000 units per year. Until we see next generation, BMW updated 4-Series for 2018 model year. But don’t expect some radical changes since 2018 BMW 4-Series only brings a mild facelift.

2018 BMW 4-Series – Design Update

There were two versions caught testing, Coupe, and Gran Coupe. Although convertible wasn’t caught testing, it will certainly join the 2018 4-Series lineup. So, as we can see on the pictures, only front, and rear end have gone through a redesign. In other words, BMW installed all-LED headlights, while front and rear bumper are being slightly revised. So, not much is going on.

2018 BMW 4-Series – Interior

The interior also won’t receive any drastic changes. But we expect better quality materials in this luxury car. And infotainment system will also get a graphics upgrade. Some physical buttons will also get revised. Climate control will get LED makeover, and that should be it, for the front part. There are rumors that BMW will also revise rear seating. Although they won’t move the seating, they might move the angle of the seatback to be more comfortable, while also adding some extra padding to help hold the body.

2018 BMW 4-Series – Same Engines

There will be no changes under the hood. The reason for that is that BMW added new powertrains for the 2017 model year. So there are only two engines that are on an offer for the new 3-Series as well. The first one is 2.0-liter twin-turbo inline 4-cylinder producing 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque (330i). The other one is also twin turbo, but 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder (440i). This one produces 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The only gearbox available is the eight-speed Sport automatic with manual shifting mode. There are also paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Potential customers can choose between RWD and xDrive (BMW’s Intelligent AWD) for $2.000 extra.

The release date will be somewhere in the second half of 2017, with sales starting in early 2018. The price should change much, and the current price of the 2.0-liter engine Gran Coupe starts at $41.950, Coupe a thousand more, and the Convertible starts at $50.300.
