As iconic as it can be, some steps must be taken to ensure survival. One of those iconic vehicles is certainly BMW M3. But what will Germans update for 2018 BMW M3? The truth is not much. As we already saw on 2018 M4, the M3 will get same tweaks as well.
2018 BMW M3 – Updates
BMW M3 already received the first facelift when Germans installed a new set of rear lights. So, technically this is the second facelift of this model. And the main changes come in the front with tweaked headlights and LED bars that connect lights to kidney grille. Other than that, the exterior of this sports sedan is completely unchanged. Another thing that is changed is related to the interior. The thing is it’s very small, but it’s nevertheless an update. An illuminated M3 logo which can be found on driver’s and passenger’s seats is being slightly updated. And that’s it, everything else remains the same, which is not a bad thing.
2018 BMW M3 – No Engine Changes
As for the engine compartment, there are no updates whatsoever. 2018 BMW M3 will continue to use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine. German carmaker didn’t revise the engine to boost output, so this engine will still produce 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. But this is enough for 0-60 mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds. That is with the standard six-speed manual gearbox. To further improve sprint by 0.2 seconds, the buyer can opt for seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The Competition Package which increases output for additional 19 horsepower will remain. This package also comes with adaptive M suspension and 20-inch alloy star-spoke wheels.
2018 BMW M3 – Release Date
With all this, the price shouldn’t be altered too much. But will surely be slightly higher than currents $64.000. So if these updates are “must wait for” which we don’t think they are, 2018 BMW M3 will be available in July this year. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Audi S4, Cadillac ATS-V will remain competitors to this sports sedan legend.
