After full three years, it’s time for German carmaker to facelift the M4. There a handful of photos of 2018 BMW M4 on which we can see some updates. But, BMW wouldn’t take a new model for a stroll just to see how good new headlights are. There are rumors of additional tweaks in the engine compartment. In fact so much about the same topic that now we are almost certain they are not just a gossip.
2018 BMW M4 – Design Updates
As we can see, only the front and rear end are lightly covered. The 2018 BMW M4 will now come with full LED adaptive headlights and lighting graphics. The rear lights now also come with LED technology. Not only that, but new M4 will receive some mods that are fitted to the M4 GTS. And those are front lip spoiler and vented hood. There is a rumor of one more thing that M4 might add to specification, but later on that. In the cabin, we can expect new trim options. Those will probably consist of some lightweight options like on M4 GTS. Lighter seats and center console to be more precise.
2018 BMW M4 – Engine
The main feature of the M4 is, of course, the engine. The 2018 BMW M4 will have the same 3.0-liter turbo inline 6 engine. But there are two courses that can take place. Let’s first say that current M4 produces 425 horsepower. But with Competition package that is available for 2017 model year, there is additional 19 horsepower added. So, one rumor is that BMW will provide Competition package as standard. So 444 horsepower will be available. But according to numerous German automotive sites, the 2018 BMW M4 might adopt a water-injection system from the GTS (but we hardly doubt that will happen). Nevertheless, which way will Germans follow, this will be the final update until an M4 successor takes place. Six-speed manual or seven-speed M automatic will remain. And the only layout that will be available is RWD, as usual.
2018 BMW M4 – Release Date
Nevertheless which type of 2018 BMW M4 the buyer chooses, coupe or convertible, both luxury models will have a higher starting price. We can expect new M4 right after the new 4-Series in the second half of 2017.
