2018 Buick Enclave Spy Photos

The first generation of Enclave will be 9 years old before the new one comes. Initial sales of Enclave were so strong that they forced GM to add a third shift to the Delta Township plant. Although it received only one facelift in 2013, sales were steadily rising reaching 62.081 of sold units in 2015. But even with that kind of success, it’s really time for something to change. So for the 2018 model year American car maker is preparing all new next-gen model. So what we know and what can we expect from 2018 Buick Enclave?

2018 Buick Enclave – Design

Firstly, thanks to the spy photos (and no thanks to heavy camouflage) we can spot some things. On the front, there are LED running lights and opening for fog lights. The Huge emblem on top of new waterfall grille is visible behind the camouflage while below we can see diamond-like mesh. Other small openings in the camouflage are probably for sensors for parking and other driving aids. At the rear side same story, heavy camouflage with cutouts for sensors and the only thing visible is dual exhaust pipes. The overall impression is that new model will remain its dimensions. Enclave was always regarded as being too heavy weighing nearly 5.000 pounds. So other than a redesign, the main change for 2018 Buick Enclave is the platform.

2018 Buick Enclave – New Platform

With GM’s C1XX long wheeled based platform, new Enclave will be lighter. About 300 pounds than its predecessor to be more precise, thus improving fuel economy and overall performance. This platform is also shared with GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse, and Cadillac XT5.

2018 Buick Enclave – Engines

The new lineup will surely arrive when it comes to powertrains. Next generation SUV will have 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. Since the first Enclave was often criticized for its six-speed transmission, which was “hesitant to downshift“ 2018 Buick Enclave will probably come with eight- or even nine-speed automatic transmission. Other than that, the 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 could be available as a more powerful option.

2018 Buick Enclave – Price And Rivals

After the introduction of Envision, 2018 Buick Enclave will move upmarket and take head on Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Explorer, Acura MDX, Infiniti QX60 and Volvo XC90. As for safety, the current Enclave has good ratings, but front crash prevention has “Basic” rating with optional equipment, so they could focus on that a little. That is especially if they want to make a bad day for above mentioned Volvo. We can expect debut in mid-2017. As far as the pricing goes it should start in the low- to mid-$40,000 range slightly higher than its predecessor.
