2018 Buick Encore Comes Almost Unchanged

Subcompact crossover SUV segment is getting crowded. And why shouldn’t it? These vehicles are becoming more and more popular. And one of them that certainly catches the eye is the Buick Encore which breaks its own record in sales every year. When it arrived in 2013 Encore was sold 31.956 times. And with certain updates over the past few years, the number reached in 2016 was more than twice, 78.565. So in the near future, the Encore will surely reach the Jeep Renegade (106.606) in sale numbers, but it may pass some time before it surpasses (if that even happens) the Kia Soul (145.768). And to make it more interesting there are some newer models on the market, such as Toyota CH-R, Nissan Rogue Sport, and Mazda CX-3. The current success is the reason why 2018 Buick Encore will arrive with too small updates.

2018 Buick Encore – New Color

Since the Encore received more changes for 2017 model year, the 2018 Buick Encore won’t see any radical changes. But there’s still some. Those come in slightly mix of the exterior color palette. Instead of River Rock Metallic, the buyer can now choose Coppertino Metallic. There are also newly painted splash guards and new Encore will arrive with capless fuel filler feature. Yea, that’s all.

2018 Buick Encore – Cleaner Air

The interior also won’t get something spectacularly new. It was refreshed with the new dashboard. The cabin also uses high-quality materials, and it’s quiet and high-tech. The only change is related to top range trim the Premium. With this selection, the buyer will now receive ionizing air filter system. And those are changes for 2018 model year. For now, the Encore rests on its success. But in not too distant future, some serious update must take place if Buick wants this positive trend to continue. As for the safety, 2017 Encore was evaluated by IIHS, and it received all “G” (good) scores on all crash test, so no issues here.

2018 Buick Encore – Same Engine Lineup

Engine section remains the same. It features 1.4-liter turbo engine with 136 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. More powerful version of the same engine arrived later. It’s the same 1.4-liter turbo, but with 153 horsepower, 177 lb-ft of torque and Start/Stop technology. Nevertheless, which engine the buyer chooses, the only gearbox available is six-speed automatic. FWD is standard, while AWD is optional for $1.500 extra. Fuel consumption is favorable with 25/33 mpg city/highway for the FWD and 23/30 mpg for AWD. But with this kind of engine, the Encore struggles under heavy loads.

2018 Buick Encore – Price

In other words, for many, it’s not worth the wait, since these updates aren’t gonna persuade anyone to wait another year for the purchase of Encore. The price also won’t stray anywhere from currents $23.915 for a base to $32.890 for the highest trim level.
