Buick Envision was launched in a hurry, to make sure that Buick enriches the SUV lineup since this type of vehicles has the highest demand. And they succeeded; Envision caught fire in the U.S. market. This luxury SUV is off to a good start since in 2016, and only in last eight months, they sold 14.193 units in the U.S. When a new model is in question, this is a good number. To further boost sales GM is will facelift the 2018 Buick Envision.
2018 Buick Envision – Controversy
Maybe, just maybe, the sale numbers would go higher if there weren’t controversies about assembly place of the Envision. For those who don’t know, Envision is produced in China and the first of that kind. This was very negatively received by some of U.S. public. The President of United Auto Workers said: “Today’s announcement by General Motors that they are importing the Envision from China is a slap in the face to U.S. taxpayers and the men and women who worked so hard to save GM during its darkest time.” Nevertheless, GM will continue to produce Envision in China. And despite the criticism, sales were good. But, back to the subject.
2018 Buick Envision – Design Changes
There isn’t much info about 2018 Buick Envision, but with spy photos available, we can see that 2018 Buick Envision is covered with heavy camo, on the front and rear end also. Apart from the camo, we can see smaller grille compared to the current one. Also, there are revised headlights that have larger projectors. The lower part of the front fascia looks little narrower. We also expect a comeback of the red, silver and blue Buick emblem like on LaCrosse. At the back, there is now a V-shaped element in the center. And revised rear lights are connected to it. Exhaust pipes are now better integrated into the new bumper. Interior probably won’t receive any changes, but some new trim option might be available.
2018 Buick Envision – Specs & Safety
The current Envision comes with two engine choices, both 4-cylinders. One is 2.5-liter producing 197 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. The other one is smaller volume, 2.0-liter but with added turbo to produce 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. And we don’t expect that something in the engine compartment will change for 2018 Buick Envision. The six-speed automatic comes with both engines choices. FWD is standard for the 2.5-liter engine, while AWD is optional. And for the 2.0-liter engine, AWD layout comes standard.
Although it is built in China, that doesn’t mean that this luxury car is of low quality or anything else. Carefully crafted, the 2017 Envision received Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS, but with optional crash prevention systems. So, buyers don’t have to worry about safety.
2018 Buick Envision – Price
With little upgrades, we don’t expect much higher price, at least there is no reason for it. 2018 Buick Envision will start probably at around $36.000 (not including shipping and handling), and go all the way to $48.000 for the top offer.
