Another one bites the dust. With the constant increase in demand for SUV’s, sedans are the most impacted vehicles. While we know that second generation Buick Verano is already at the dealerships in China and that is where this model will remain. So even while someone still tries to search for the 2018 Buick Verano he will come empty handed.
2018 Buick Verano – Last Year Speculations
A year ago those stories that new Verano won’t see North American soil were fired up when Buick’s PR chief sad: “We have no future plans for the Verano to announce and are focused on selling the current model.” So, the last model year for the U.S. version of the Verano is 2017.
2018 Buick Verano – Main Reasons for Discontinuation
The Verano will even receive some minor design updates for 2018 model year. Even so, the Buick doesn’t intend to bring it back to U.S. The reason may not be only the car’s failure to attract a bigger audience, but GM’s plans for concentrating on the SUV’s. Encore and Enclave account around 60% of Buick sales in the country. And with the introduction of Envision which has an increase in sales, we can see that GM’ plans on concentrating on the SUV market are certainly true. Not only that, but Chevrolet Cruze is one of the most popular vehicles available in sedan form. Its sale numbers are in six digits. It also offers more comfort, advanced safety features.
2018 Buick Verano – No More
Even with all of these arguments, one question remains. New Verano is not just on the drawing board. It exists, it’s updated for 2018 model year and it sells in China. And that does make us wonder, why won’t the GM just ship it across and offer it to American people. It certainly has potential. Nevertheless, 2017 Verano is the last one to stick around, and if someone wants to grab it, he better be in a hurry. It’s the last chance for having 2017 Verano in possession directly from the dealership. At least until SUV reign ends.
