2018 Cadillac Escalade Gets New Gearbox

It’s no secret that everywhere it passes it always leaves a random passerby in awe. For years Escalade was benchmark among full-size luxury SUV’s. But over the years, sales slowly fell, until this model received extended length version the ESV, which can accommodate up to eight occupants. This was a must for a vehicle this size. Even so, they won’t leave the 2018 Cadillac Escalade without any updates.

2018 Cadillac Escalade – Same Design

Although when it comes to design, we don’t think that facelift will even take place here. The only change might be in the exterior color palette of the ESV. Besides that, we also expect a mix of the trim level equipment. Some say that new Escalade will arrive with Super Cruise feature which will debut on 2018 Cadillac CT6, but at this point, we think there is hardly a chance for that. It might arrive in later years when Cadillac thoroughly sees how it will perform on the CT6.

2018 Cadillac Escalade – New Gearbox

For a vehicle this size, high power output is mandatory. And with 6.2-liter V8 which produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, Cadillac surely delivered desired power. Although we can’t expect very high fuel efficiency with this type of vehicle which is now 15/20 mpg city/highway, Cadillac can do a number of things to achieve better economy. The current Escalade comes with the eight-speed automatic transmission, and it would certainly benefit from more gears. That is just what will happen since unofficial leaked documents revealed that Cadillac will install the new GM’s ten-speed automatic transmission. We don’t think that fuel economy will flourish, but every mile per gallon counts. Selection of 2WD or 4WD will remain.

There is also a high possibility of adding more powerful engine in the lineup. But we think that with it, the Escalade will join the V-Series. In other words, the V-powered Escalade is coming our way. But that’s a different story.

2018 Cadillac Escalade – Price

With modest updates, the price won’t be much higher than current’s $74.590. And it will certainly pose a bigger threat to Land Rover Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz G-class, Lincoln Navigator, and Toyota Land Cruiser.
