2018 Cadillac Escalade-V Coming with 650 Horsepower

It looks like the Cadillac V-Series will have another addition. While the Escalade is a fine piece of SUV, it still isn’t close to other high-performance models like Bentley Bentayga or Mercedes-AMG G-class. Just for the reminder that Bentayga comes with 600 horsepower, G63 with 563 and G65 with 621 horsepower. And if the rumors are correct, 2018 Cadillac Escalade-V will be ready in time to top both of them. And that would also mean that half of the Cadillac lineup will come with the V badge.

2018 Cadillac Escalade-V – Supercharged V8

This rumor is dated back to the beginning of 2016. And we think it’s finally time for realization. Even then words about 600 horsepower Escalade were circulating. And that will probably be the case. But not 600 horsepower, it should be 650 and 650 lb-ft of torque. The high output is a product of 6.2-liter supercharged V8 LT4. It’s the same engine that is already in Cadillac CTS-V and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The ZR1, however, is rumored to join the 700 horsepower club for 2018 model year. As for the gearbox, the rumors said that new engine will be mated to eight-speed automatic transmission. But since the regular Escalade will benefit from the new ten-speed automatic transmission, the eight-speed will probably go down the drain. So, the most likely option is the Hydra-Matic ten-speed automatic transmission.

2018 Cadillac Escalade-V – Design Changes

We don’t think that there will be many differences between the regular and the V-powered Escalade. Even the changes in design for 2018 Escalade don’t bring anything spectacularly new. But just for the difference, we should probably find V badging on the exterior elements such as the front grille and rear end. Of course, we also expect unique wheels design just for this occasion with special tires to hold this brute force firmly on the ground, and maybe an exclusive color in the palette. The Escalade-V will also receive Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration, meaning this SUV will be somewhat lower. Also to be able to stop, not only tires will have higher grip, but behind the wheels, we’ll also find high-performance Brembo brakes.

2018 Cadillac Escalade-V – Price

We can only say that one thing that we could miss is the name. Because is a word of other means of naming the high-performance vehicles such as the SUV and that’s V-Sport. Nevertheless, shall it be Escalade-V or Escalade V-Sport, 650 horsepower Escalade will probably arrive in the beginning of 2018 with a price around $15.000 higher than the regular luxury SUV. And it would make it more affordable than the G63 and the G65, not to mention the Bentley Bentayga.
