2018 Cadillac XT5 Gets Important Updates

The XT5 doesn’t need a special introduction. Although one year old, and quite new on the market, the Cadillac SUV records growth in sales. Then again, that isn’t surprising since XT5 is the only crossover available from Cadillac since there is only the big SUV, Escalade. Although young, the XT5 will get a number of changes. Of course, design changes for 2018 Cadillac XT5 are big only on a paper, because they only include mix in the color palette. But there is also a bigger update in the base trim.

2018 Cadillac XT5 – Design Changes

Cadillac will delete Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic and Silver Coast Metallic. But they will add three more options, Harbor Blue Metallic, Deep Amethyst Metallic and Bronze Dune Metallic. The blue and bronze color options will cost extra, except on the highest trim level, Platinum. There is also an opportunity to choose bright surround with black chrome mesh grille and clear rear lights. That is all for the exterior changes. On the inside, there are just a few updates. One is that Cadillac will add rear seatbelt reminder feature, while the driver gets an automatic heated steering wheel. As the name speaks for itself it engages the heating of the steering wheel as well as the heating of seats automatically based on the ambient air temperature. Besides those there are also a few extra accessories, assist steps, all-weather floor mats, and illuminated cargo sill plate.

2018 Cadillac XT5 – AWD for Base Trim

The hood hides 3.6-liter V6 engine. In other words, there are no changes on the engine. It produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with Stop/Start feature and eight-speed automatic transmission. The main (and only) update lies in the layout. Of course, AWD is still optional on this luxury vehicle except on the Platinum trim. But until now the base trim was available only with FWD. For 2018 Cadillac XT5 that’s about to change since the buyer of the lowest trim will also be able to opt for AWD.

2018 Cadillac XT5 – Price

With modest changes, the price correction should also be modest. In other words, we don’t expect significant changes. That is if Cadillac wants the positive sales trend to continue. Not only that, but XT5 has some serious competition. Let’s name just a few, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC-class, Acura RDX, Volvo XC60, and many, many others.
