2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV Slight Changes

Chevrolet Bolt EV sparked interest as an all-electric vehicle with a range of over 200 miles on a single charge. It’s too early to see will Bolt catch fire since it arrived in December last year, but according to sale numbers, its popularity is on the rise. The truth is we can’t expect a boom of an electric vehicle today. We can blame low gas prices for that and majority of people which are more and more turning to big SUV’s and pickup trucks. Being young, we can’t expect some major overhauls for 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV in terms of design or mechanical segment.

2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV – Design and Changes

Although Chevrolet will continue to offer Bolt EV in two trim levels LT and Premier we can expect some slight changes in equipment and features. Not only that but some mix in the exterior color palette will probably receive a mix. It’s probably similar changes as on 2018 Chevrolet Volt. Now there are seven colors available while three of them cost extra. Also, 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV should have wider availability across the United States and Canada.

The high-tech interior won’t receive any changes. There is one color selection in LT and two leather version in the Premier. The driver has 8-inch digital gauge cluster, while the center stack holds 10.2-inch LCD color touchscreen. It holds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV – Range

The heart of this vehicle is 200 horsepower electric motor with the electronic precision shifter. This motor produces 266 lb-ft of torque and acceleration is quite remarkable also, it takes under 6.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. The 238-mile range is achieved thanks to the 60-kWh battery pack. And that will remain the same for 2018 model year. We might expect in the future that Chevrolet will increase the range, but for the time being, the numbers are more than enough. With level 3 fast charger 90% of the battery will be replenished in just 30 minutes while on level 2 charger it would take nine hours.

Safety is no issue for this how Chevrolet calls it, crossover. For us, it’s really a 4-door hatchback. With optional equipment, Bolt EV received Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS. And there is no reason for next model to receive anything less.

2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV – Release Date

Chevrolet unofficially confirmed that new model will arrive in December 2017. Thus we can expect first deliveries already in the beginning of 2018 with similar pricing range. Of course, there are other models that will keep sale numbers of Bolt EV from going sky-rocket high. Just some of them are Kia Soul EV, Nissan Leaf, Honda Clarity Electric, and BMW i3.
