It’s been forty years since Fiesta saw broad daylight. Throughout six generation this supermini was the choice for many young buyers. Over the course of its existence, it was sold on over 16 million units. So it’s Ford’s best-selling vehicle just behind Escort and the F-Series. It wasn’t available in the US for thirty years, between 1980 and 2010 when the sixth generation was unveiled. And just a few days ago Ford revealed next generation of this vehicle. And the new 2018 Ford Fiesta comes bigger, riding lower and with the roomier cabin.
2018 Ford Fiesta – Design
As for design, there aren’t major changes from the current model. Headlights and grille look like those on Focus. The mesh grille is wider and thinner while the bumper also has new look. 2018 Ford Fiesta rides on the same B platform as before, but it’s lower and wider for more aggressive appearance. Designers also revised the sides. In the picture above, Fiesta is equipped sporty ST trim, which is only the design package. It’s not the Fiesta ST hot hatch.
2018 Ford Fiesta – Interior
Designers in Ford have placed more effort in the interior of the new Fiesta. They promise that cabin more comfortable thanks to more soft-touch materials on the dashboard. Not only that, but the dashboard will carry a bigger touchscreen. On it, engineers have installed Ford’s Sync 3 software. 2018 Ford Fiesta will also have enhanced version of pedestrian detection. This means that this technology now can prevent accidents even when it’s dark.

2018 Ford Fiesta – Engines
The European model will receive Ford’s popular 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine. But the big news is that now it comes with cylinder deactivation system for better fuel economy. When extra power isn’t needed the Fiesta will run only on two, but will re-engage the third one faster than a blink of an eye. Just 14 milliseconds to be more precise. In addition to this, Fiesta will also come with revised 1.6-liter and 1.6-liter turbo engines.
2018 Ford Fiesta – Release Date
The 2018 Ford Fiesta will make its debut probably in January next year at Detroit Auto Show. And more info about US-spec model will be available. It will all be ready for the start of sales in the early beginning of 2018. There are also rivals that come as Chevrolet Sonic, Honda Fit and Hyundai Accent.
