The best-selling model in the US from Honda lineup is Accord. In 2015 it took sixth place behind Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500, Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla. Sale of a current ninth generation that is present from 2012 to 2015 reached a number of 1.442.481. Japanese manufacturer wants that trend to continue and if possible improve that number. So after six years of the current model present on roads, the tenth generation is coming our way. Photographers captured 2018 Honda Accord. What can we tell from the spy photos?
2018 Honda Accord – Design
Well as with any heavy camouflaged model not much, but certain elements are noticeable even with “the black dress”. The first thing we can tell is that new model resembles its younger brother Civic. And since the Civic has grown in size so did the Accord. It’s bigger and has much sleeker design and sportier look. One more thing that Accord took from the Civic is the platform. So new Accord will be lighter and stiffer, thus improving the all-around driving experience. It has an angular front end which will define the line of the grille and square headlights that are most likely LED. Designers achieved that sleek design with an arching roofline that nicely merges with the rear window.
The interior is a mystery at this point but since Accord has grown in size, there should be more room inside. This mid-size sedan will probably go with a bigger touchscreen on the dashboard.
2018 Honda Accord – Drivetrain
The current four-cylinder engine will remain in the next Accord. But the thing is that V6 will probably be retired in favor of four-cylinder turbo. Hybrid will also be in offer combining four-cylinder engine that produces 212 horsepower with an electric motor. This hybrid made a comeback for 2017 model year. As for the safety, Accord can brag with highest safety marks in the last couple of years. To be exact from 2013 to 2016 (a span of four years) Accord received Top Safety Pick+ every year except 2015 when it received Top Safety Pick. Although we’ll have to wait for safety tests of 2018 Honda Accord a little longer we expect only the highest marks.
