Roughly around 30% of Jaguar sales in 2016 in the U.S. came from the F-Pace. Jaguar’s popularity is rising but they must push even harder to establish themselves among already well-known competition like BMW X3, Audi Q5 and SQ5, Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz GLC-class, Volvo XC60, Acura RDX and others. Until now F-Pace was available either with 2.0-liter turbo diesel or 3.0-liter V6 with a supercharger. Thanks to the Jaguar’s new Ingenium engine family, not just that XE and XF received a new 2.0-liter turbo, but this engine will also be newly available as the base 2018 Jaguar F-Pace. That not the only news, new SUV will come with new trim and more safety features.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace – New Features
We won’t talk about design since they are no changes whatsoever (except changing the name of the exterior colors). But new luxury SUV will have two new safety features that come as an option. The 2018 Jaguar XF has undergone the same treatment. Those are forward traffic detection and forward vehicle guidance. With camera and radar, the driver will be assisted in low-visibility areas in front, and with the vehicle guidance, it will be easier for the driver to maneuver in and out of tight spaces. The sports steering wheel that was only available on R-Sport and S trims will be now standard on Prestige trim. And it won’t have extra badging on the bottom.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace – New Base Engine
The main news, of course, is what now lies under the hood of base F-Pace. It’s the new 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine that is more powerful than its predecessor. Providing 7 horsepower and 18 lb-ft of torque more, it comes to a total of 147 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar says that thanks to the new direct-injection system and new manifold, it will also return better numbers in fuel efficiency. The rest of the engine lineup remains the same. Meaning the 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 180 horsepower will remain, as well as 3.0-liter supercharged V6. The V6 generates 340 horsepower unless the buyer chooses the S trim, where in that case the total output is 380 horsepower. All engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. And unlike the XE and XF where the buyer must pay extra for the AWD, on F-Pace entire lineup AWD is standard.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace – New Trim
For those with a bigger budget, there is new Portfolio trim. It is basically Prestige trim loaded with a few extra features. And those are softer, Windsor leather 22-way power adjustable seats and winged headrests. Those are exclusive for Portfolio trim, and besides those, there is also a heads-up display and 20-inch wheels. It comes with 340 horsepower V6 and a price tag of $64.195.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace – Price
We expect 2018 Jaguar F-Pace in dealerships this May. The 2.0-liter gasoline powered SUV will be the cheapest in the lineup with the price of $43.060.
