Jaguar, although nationally known, has a long go to convince the majority of people that they are as good as the Germans. Expectations are high, but they are certainly on the right track. The whole Jaguar lineup will receive updates for 2018 model year and XE is, of course, one of them. Updates for 2018 Jaguar XE are in some term, revolutionary.
2018 Jaguar XE – Features
Before we get to that we must mention that design will stay the same. There will be no changes whatsoever to this luxury sedan since it’s relatively too soon for that. But 2018 Jaguar XE will come with the new feature. And that’s hands-free power trunk lid. It will open automatically with foot motion under the rear bumper. On the inside, but only on models equipped with InControl Touch Pro infotainment system drivers will have new 12.3-inch digital gauge instrument cluster. Surround camera with parking option will get new functions. And those are forward cross-traffic detection and better parking guidance.
2018 Jaguar XE – New Engines
The main news is that Jaguar has new Ingenium engine family which is entirely Jaguar design and engineering. So, they will get rid of engines that they’ve been using since Ford owned them. The old 25t engine will be replaced with the same size 2.0-liter turbo inline 4-cylinder one called 25t (wonder why they’re using the same name). This one produces 7 more horsepower, coming to a total of 247. Torque is also increased, this engine produces 269 lb-ft of torque, which is 18 more than before. There is also 3.0-liter supercharged V6 (35t) which now houses 380 horsepower rather than former 340. The eight-speed automatic transmission will be used to send torque to rear wheels. AWD will remain as a $2.500 extra. The only diesel engine available will remain the same, meaning it’s a turbo-diesel inline 4-cylinder one (20d) which produces 180 horsepower.
2018 Jaguar XE – Price
The pricing options will be higher, starting with the base price of $36.720. Jaguar has a long way to go to establish itself between the likes of Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-class, BMW 3-Series, Acura TLX, Cadillac ATS, Infiniti Q50 and others. It will arrive in dealerships in May this year.
