2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup

After numerous rumors, now it’s official. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup is coming. Yes, it really is. But that shouldn’t be a surprise since Jeep is a money maker for FCA. So they made a normal step to expand their offerings. For some who is old enough to remember this isn’t the first pickup from Jeep. From 1986 to 1992 there was the last commercial pickup named Comanche. So it’s not anything new for this carmaker and that is a plus, they really know what they are doing.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup – Platform

This pickup is based on new Jeep Wrangler and it will share the same platform. So a hydroformed steel frame will support the body made from aluminum and plastic panels. This way the pickup will drop all the extra weight while maintaining rigidity. As for appearance, designers will certainly improve design and aerodynamics, but this pickup will be no different from Wrangler. With its iconic design, it’s recognizable throughout the world. We already mentioned that 2018 Jeep Wrangler will have a sloped grille for about 10 or 15° to improve aerodynamics. It will also maintain off-road characteristics. In other words, high ground clearance is a must for pickup.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup – Powertrain

There is no info about the interior of 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup, but we strongly think that they will carry over the interior of Wrangler. As for the powertrain, most reasonable solution is the 3.6-liter Pentastar engine. In Wrangler it produces 302 horsepower and that will surely be enough. This engine will certainly come with ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. But some reports suggests that this pickup will also offer a manual. There will probably be one more engine in the offer. The word is about 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine. The rumors suggest that this engine is planned for 2018 Jeep Wrangler. And that’s not all since by some there could also be a turbo-diesel. This pickup will have four-wheel drive, but since this is a pickup, the rear-wheel drive should also come since it’s standard for this type of vehicles.
