Like the most AMG models, another in line will receive the new generation engines. The word is about S-class on steroids. Those steroids are injected with new more powerful handcrafted AMG powertrains. There isn’t much time left until German manufacturer reveals the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65.
2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65 – New Engines
Before we get to styling and interior updates, we must unveil what AMG has prepared for this full-size luxury high-performance vehicle. The S63 version comes with 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine which produces 603 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque. While top speed is 186 mph, the acceleration from 0-60 mph takes just 3.4 seconds. The S65 comes under the hood has 6.0-liter also twin turbo, but V12. This one produces slightly more horsepower, 621 but much more torque, 738 lb-ft. While the top speed is the same as on S63, for acceleration from standstill to 60 mph the S65 needs 4.2 seconds.
The reason behind this is that unlike the S63 which comes with Mercedes’ AWD system, the 4MATIC, the S65 sends torque only to rear wheels. Both models also have AMG with sport suspension but the S65 also comes with Curve tilting function. This feature adjusts occupant bodies for more comfortable turns.
