Over fifty years there is one vehicle that is still a huge success. You wonder which one? Well, first things first. The sixth generation of this model known as W222 was launched in 2013. Of course, it isn’t strange that you can see it on everyday roads since it’s only three years old. But the thing is that you can also see models 20 or even 30 years old on the roads. Some of them are very near the 1.000.000 miles mark. This is more than enough to make a stand that Mercedes vehicles are very reliable, thanks to high-quality manufacturing. We already mentioned that W222 is only three years old, but now we can see that German manufacturer is preparing new 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class.
Although it is for a new model year, there are very silent about it. The thing is they don’t have anything much to tell, as we can see from the photos that new model will only get minor updates when it comes to its look.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class – Design
When we talk about those, there are some things that it’s worth to mention. One thing is headlights. When you look at first they have exact shape as before. But the story about them is not the shape, it’s what’s inside. They will come with three LEDs vertically stacked. They have Multibeam LED Matrix technology. A neat trick when it comes to those is that you can leave high beam on without worrying of blinding incoming drivers. Apart from that, on 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class slightly redesigned are front and rear bumper. In addition, new exhaust pipes are installed in the back.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class – Interior
Interior also didn’t get many novelties. On instrument cluster, dual displays (one with infotainment system) are mounted that are slightly larger. When you take a closer look you can see that there are no buttons between them. And this is maybe due to the possibility of integrating the gesture-control system. This is very likely to happen since they’ve been experimenting with it for quite some time. One thing that is clearly visible is the steering wheel. This three-spoke wheel was seen on E-class and Distronic Plus with Steering Assist will be shifted on the left side of it that will provide a semi-autonomous ride. We really don’t think that there is any need to talk about high-level of luxury and comfort, but we’ll mention one thing that 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class will continue to use.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class – Specs
Magic Body Control was implemented on earlier models will continue to do its job in the 2018 Merced-Benz S-class. This active suspension system is fitted with a road-sensing system (Road Surface Scan) that pre-loads the shocks for the road surface detected. In addition to that, there are loads of safety systems. Some of those are Bas Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Mercedes’ Pre-Safe with pedestrian detection and City Brake function and more.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class – Drivetrains
Although there are a variety of drivetrains for S-class it’s early to speculate what options potential buyers will have at their disposable. The current model has V6, V8, and V12 engines with the output from 268 all the way to 621 horsepower. There are no speculations of new drivetrains for 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class, but even so, existing ones will surely be improved in term of fuel consumption and output values. Any of these engines will be connected to standard seven-speed automatic 7G-Tronic Plus.
2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class – Conclusion
Even if there are no any novelties, 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will surely be attractive to costumers. And that is only thanks to the previous reputation. Price won’t be low when to come to think that designers of S-Class were always building models without the regard of cost. The new 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class will hit the showrooms around the world in 2017 and by then we will certainly have more info on this top luxury car.
