Somebody should call 911 in advance since it will be hard for us not to sneak in dealerships this fall and steal all new 2018 Porsche 911 GT3. There are quite a few reasons for that. This sports car is back and it’s better than ever. After just three years, Porsche learned from its mistakes. And the one is that they banned manual transmission.
2018 Porsche 911 GT3 – Manual Is Back
That won’t be the case here. Porsche returned manual transmission in the offer. We guess they acknowledged that there is still a high demand for those. Of course PDK seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission comes standard, and the six-speed manual is optional. The main thing is that when we hear optional, the first thing to ask is how much extra green bills are needed for the feature. Well, the truth is, none. Manual transmission comes with same price tag of the automatic transmission. And while some may wonder how manual transmission isn’t cheaper than automatic, we must admit that those days where manual comes with lower price are long gone.
2018 Porsche 911 GT3 – New Engine
Whether or not the buyer opts for manual, new 911 GT3 comes with a new engine. There were many worries how the new model will lose some of its cylinders (it’s a new trend these days especially in the Volvo lineup). But fear not, 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 comes with the flat-6 4.0-liter engine without any super or turbo chargers. So this naturally aspired engine produces 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. That’s 25 more horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque. With this type of car, acceleration numbers are important as well as top speed.
The new model will get to 60 mph from standstill in 3.2 seconds while top speed is estimated at 198 mph. Of course, the most fun way to use this power is through rear wheels. Porsche also kept its rear wheel driving system from former GT3. This feature steers rear wheels with or against front wheels to maintain stability in high-speed cornering.
2018 Porsche 911 GT3 – Exterior
Another feature that will help the rear wheels firmly on the ground is a huge (in term of Porsche huge) carbon fiber rear wing. Apart from that, it’s still recognizable as 911 with round headlights, low stance, and a sloping roofline. The buyer can choose from three standard, seven metallic or four special exterior colors. The new model also comes with specially designed 911 GT3 20-inch wheels.

On the inside, the driver can find smaller dimension steering wheel as well as upgraded infotainment system which comes with Apple CarPlay. The driver will also have the ability of electronically adjusting height and backrest position of the seat since Sports seats Plus which come with elevated side bolsters come as standard. These seats are upholstered in leather with GT3 logo visible on the headrests. Also, there are Adaptive Sports seats Plus which are 18-way power adjustable. Another option is full bucket seats which are completely made of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. The interior is all black with either Platinum Grey or Red stitching. There is also a Sound Package Plus which consists of eight speakers and total output of 150 watts. That’s nice but we would rather listen to sound from large dual exhaust system.
2018 Porsche 911 GT3 – Price
Most headaches come from the price. Of course, this type of car can’t be cheap, but you won’t get it under $144.650. And that’s price without gas-guzzler tax. Anyway, we really don’t think that this is too high for this type of vehicle. Porsche said that even the greatest drivers won’t unveil its full potential. And that is something that’s needed to be put on test.
