It’s no longer a concept. A Porsche wagon will be another addition to vehicle lineup. That’s right, precise steering, prestige and high level of comfort and power will arrive in the wagon form. Originally the concept was primarily for design for new Panamera, but head people of Porsche than realized they had more than that. We maybe never believed that we’ll be able to mix the name Porsche with a station wagon, but 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is real and it’s coming to the U.S.
2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – Design
New model rides on the same architecture as the regular Panamera and it’s about the same size. The only difference is that roofline is extended to provide more headroom for the rear seat occupants. Although a wagon it’s still a Porsche. The design is characteristic for this German brand with oval-shaped headlights, thin rear lights and large but well-positioned quad exhaust pipes. In addition to more space inside, the trunk space is also slightly larger.
2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – Engines
But more important and far more interesting is engine compartment. And there is no stone unturned. First, we have a 3.0-liter turbo V6 providing 330 horsepower and 331-lb-ft of torque. The 4S comes with 2.9-liter twin turbo V6 and 440 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Even if that is not enough, there is 4S Turbo which comes with 4.0-liter twin turbo V8. This engine produces 550 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque. All engines come with eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD as standard. While some may think that this is the end of engine section, they’re wrong. 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo will come as a hybrid. It combines regular 3.0-liter engine with 136 horsepower electric motor. That gives a combined output of 462 horsepower.
2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – Price
The new model will be available this fall. And when it comes to the price of this luxury wagon, it won’t be cheap. Panamera 4 starts at $97.250, the 4S at $110.250, while the Turbo goes all the way to $155.050. The hybrid slits between the first two with a price tag of $105.050. This model doesn’t have competitors in this price range, but some who are far behind it are Mercedes-Benz E-class Wagon, Volvo V90 Cross Country, and Audi A4 Allroad Quattro.
