Subaru is becoming more and more popular with each year. And there is a model that accounts for almost 30% (29 to be exact) of whole Subaru brand in the U.S. It is lovable crossover Forester. Well if we aren’t already tired of the word black mixed with the word edition, we might soon be. The 2018 Subaru Forester comes with, yea, Black Edition model. It looks like the offering of vehicles going black is the trend now, Ram 1500 Big Horn also goes black for 2018 model year. But is this all that Subaru prepared for an upcoming model year?

2018 Subaru Forester – Changes
Well, not quite, Subaru also prepares some minor changes to equipment, and of course pricing. The first thing most notable is Touring model now comes standard with EyeSight Driver Assist technology. It consists of automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning. Also, models equipped with EyeSight will now be enriched with automatic high beam and automatic braking when going in reverse. This safety suite is also available on Premium and Limited trims.

2018 Subaru Forester – Black Edition package
As for the $1150 Black Edition package, it is available as a package only for Premium trim, and only if CVT is also selected. And unsurprisingly it comes with black 18-inch wheels, black paint job, fog light accents, and emblems. On the inside, there is, wow, again, black cloth with faux-leather upholstery with silver and black dashboard trim. That’s not all. The buyer will get adaptive LED headlights, hill-descent control, with silver stitching on steering wheel, door mats, and shift knob. The black edition also receives paddle shifters that were previously available only for 2.0XT models.
2018 Subaru Forester – Powertrain
Options for engine bay on this SUV remain the same. Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring trims arrive with the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine which produces 170 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0XT Premium has 2.0-liter turbo engine which develops 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed manual transmission is standard and only available on first two trims while CVT is optional even on those. The rest of the lineup comes only with CVT, while all models come with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
2018 Subaru Forester – Price
Some of the rivals that Forester slowly lowers their sale numbers are Toyota CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Ford Escape. Speaking about prices, the CVT (where CVT is optional) models come cheaper this model year. For more detailed information see table below.
