Pickup trucks and SUV’s are highly popular vehicles but the best-selling car comes from Toyota. For the majority of people for whom a car is merely an appliance, the Camry meets their needs to perfection. And that’s why sales continually rise from year to year and it’s the bestselling vehicle in 2015 with 429.355 sold in the U.S. alone. It really isn’t the car for motor enthusiasts, it isn’t horrible and isn’t all that great also, but for most people it will get the job done. The current generation is present from 2011, with some improved design in 2015 to give it more appealing look and some innovations. But that is all. What path will Japanese manufacturer take on their popular model and what can we expect from 2018 Toyota Camry?

2018 Toyota Camry – New Design
For most people this car is just a Camry, you won’t take a closer look or turn around to watch it as it goes by, it is just everyday, average mean of transport. And that is the thing that Toyota Could focus on and mix designs of their earlier concepts and give 2018 Toyota Camry completely new look. This could take Camry to a whole new level and it could take on higher priced premiums.
One of the things that we expect is more aggressive look to give you that “don’t mess with me” appearance. With chrome edging that spears out from the headlights to middle emblem right above the wider sharp-looking grille, they will get that. The line from redesigned slim air intakes flows over front fenders and lower part of the door to give you sportier look. With lower roofline and slick LED taillights, it will give you feel of the far more luxurious vehicle.
The design isn’t everything that makes a car and there are indications that new Camry will have much more implemented aluminum in the body structure, as well as even carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. With those new model will significantly lose weight and greatly improve performance and give better numbers in fuel consumption. In other words, to sum it up, 2018 Toyota Camry will be something really new on the market.

2018 Toyota Camry – Interior
Toyota will put much effort in the interior as well, with high-quality materials. Fabric or even leather upholstery in 2018 Toyota Camry will give you more comfort than ever. In addition to those repositioned seating will complement as well. Camry will nearly have what every other premium in this segment has. So we can say that TFT instrument display on the dashboard will come in play. And larger touchscreen also with integrated infotainment system on the center console, as well as the premium audio system. Wireless connectivity with you smart devices will be available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with additional USB jacks and Bluetooth it will make your ride easier.

2018 Toyota Camry – Powertrains
Will there be any new powertrains? Well, those are still a mystery, but the thing is there isn’t anything wrong with the current lineup of engines for this model. Standard four-cylinder, V6, and hybrid will probably be available. But output figures might be higher since sportier look demands more powerful engines. We really expect a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine to hide under the hood of 2018 Toyota Camry. From 3.5-liter V6 we can surely expect more horsepower than current 268. But for those that need highest mileage hybrid will be on the offer. It will consist of the four-cylinder engine working with an electric motor. Standard transmission for these engines was six-speed automatic and there is no news of new gearbox options, but we’ll be rooting that Japanese engineers surprise us with the completely new transmission for 2018 Toyota Camry.
2018 Toyota Camry – Release Date
The release date is expected for early 2017 since it’s the model for the 2018 year. We have yet to see what course of action Toyota will take. You can imagine since the sales are skyrocket high that they might play safe and don’t touch anything. But the truth is that nothing last forever and other car makers are pushing the borders with their redesigns and innovations. Toyota will surely take this path and will do anything to stay ahead of its rivals. There is one thing that we even can’t speculate and that is the price. If Toyota takes these radical changes, the price certainly won’t stand in place. So will they lose some of its customer’s cause of that? Probably not, since for every cent you spend more you will have new sportier, better looking and comfier Camry than ever before.
2018 Toyota Camry – Spy photos
We already went through possible design updates for new Camry. And by the look of the spy photos, that is it. The word is about eight generation Camry with TRD which stands for Toyota Racing Development. The difference is in aggressive appearance. Toyota wants to battle the Camry’s reputation of being and ordinary A to B appliance. So unlike SE and XSE trim TRD comes with quad exhaust pipes instead of dual. And not only the design, but new Camry will have aggressive-looking, 15-spoke wheels, and stiffer suspension.
New 2018 Toyota Camry will be built on a new modular platform called TNGA. It stands for Toyota New Global Architecture which can be found in latest Prius. So somewhat different dimensions are likely.
2018 Toyota Camry TRD – Drivetrain
We already said about possible engines, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a 3.5-liter V6 which will produce more than current 268 horsepower. And it will. This V6 engine is currently in Toyota Highlander and under that hood, it has 295 horsepower. In other words, V6 is reserved for TRD trim and will easily produce more than 300 horsepower. These updates are a must if Toyota wants to take on Ford Fusion Sport and his 325 horsepower. But there is also mention of one more 4-cylinder engine, and that is 2.0-liter turbo who will join the lineup as we said earlier. As for the transmission option, it is likely to be an eight-speed automatic with FWD.
2018 Toyota Camry – Price
TRD model will arrive a few months after the base 2018 Toyota Camry. So expect it in the beginning of second half of 2017. Pricing options although still not available. But if you take the price of the current Camry V6 ($32.235) and Ford Fusion Sport ($33.435), TRD model will start somewhere around $34.000.
2018 Toyota Camry – Teaser Image
Toyota is really teasing us. They released a teaser photo of right rear part of 2018 Toyota Camry. And by the looks of it, our expectations will come true.
On a single image, we can see something like fender vent extending downwards vertically from LED rear light. There is and XSE badge, rear spoiler, and wheel with a tire that suggests sporty character. It really looks sporty and by the words of Toyota USA chief Bob Carter, it is. He said that “newest Camry will send chills up your spine”. We certainly hope so.
