With new model year come new models. And from famous Japanese manufacturer comes RAV4 with some noteworthy updates. The RAV4 2017 model year, we reviewed earlier didn’t bring many updates, especially in the design section. But for this year, design department was a bit busier. And not only that, 2018 Toyota RAV4 will arrive with a whole new trim level for the most adventurous.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – New Package
That’s the trim name, but before we get to that, we must say that all new RAV4’s come with a new Cold Weather package. It features all-season floor mats, heated power fabric front seats, heated steering wheel, and wiper de-icer. New RAV4 will have one more color selectable in the color palette, Ruby Flare Pearl.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – New Adventure Trim
As for the Toyota RAV4 Adventure, we must say that five exterior colors will be available. Those are Black, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Silver Sky Metallic and Super White, as well as the Ruby Flare Pearl. The new trim emphasizes on sportiness and mastering the muddy terrain. It comes with larger over fender flares, 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with 235/55R18 tires. There are also lower body guards, roof rails, black headlights bezels, as well as black surroundings on fog lights. To further distinguish this model from the rest of the lineup there is Adventure badging. On the inside, there are unique trim panels, shift-knob is wrapped in leather, and cargo area has a 120/100W power outlet. Also, there are Adventure door sill protectors and all-weather mats with Adventure logo. It will be available in FWD and AWD, while the suspension is tuned for much higher ride height.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – Engines
However, those adventurers must settle for the same engine that lies beneath the hood of other models. It’s the same 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. It produces 176 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. The sole transmission for this engine remains the six-speed automatic. However, with a hybrid option with three electric motors, the buyer gets the same engine but with 18 horsepower more (and better fuel economy) while the six-speed automatic is swapped in favor of CVT. All models come standard with TSC (Trailer Sway Control), HAC (Hill-Start Assist Control), and most importantly TSS-P (Toyota Safety Sense P).
