2018 Toyota Tacoma Brings More Safety

Tacoma as a mid-size pickup enjoys a high popularity in the U.S. Even with record high sale number in 2016 (191.631), it looks like that Tacoma will reach over 200k milestone in 2017 breaking the record again. Even with the previous number leaves key competitors like Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Nissan Frontier way far behind. Of course, Toyota won’t rest on current success, because there are reports that 2018 Toyota Tacoma will receive some important updates. And the keyword is safety.

2018 Toyota Tacoma – Design

There won’t be any exterior updates or changes. It’s not strange since the high lifespan of Tacoma lifecycle. And the third one was unveiled for 2015 model year. Last year Tacoma got TRD Pro trim that handles best in the messiest situations. The interior also remains the same with soft-touch surfaces, while upper trims also come with leather seating. There is available 4.2-inch customizable multi-information display on the instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and available moonroof.

2018 Toyota Tacoma – More Safety

While some of the standard features are a rearview camera, parking sensors, Tacoma really could benefit from Toyota Safety Sense P active safety suite. And while there still isn’t official information available, the rest of Toyota lineup comes with more active safety features. Meaning that new Tacoma will come probably as standard with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning with steering assist and automatic headlights.

Other than that, everything else will remain the same. Meaning that under the hood will still lie 2.7=liter inline 4-cylinder engine which produces 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. But that isn’t the only engine available. For those who need it, there is the optional 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
