Well, the pictures are here, and so are speculations. We already said for 2018 Acura RDX that it might be getting the 4-cylinder engine, that didn’t happen. But for next generation, it is more than a possibility. We can’t say that from the pictures, but every source with as much credibility as it can have, this will take place. So prepare for 2019 Acura RDX.
2019 Acura RDX – Design
Well, we can’t say much about design. Hell, we can’t say almost anything. Acura put as much work into camouflaging this prototype as it has put effort into developing the next generation. But thanks to law regulations some objects are visible. Unfortunately, we can see headlights that are similar to the current version, but we can’t expect some major change in this part. The rear lights are highly mounted and in a position and angle that gives us the look with angry eyebrows. On each side of the bumper, we can also see large exhaust pipe. Maybe the camouflage is playing tricks on our eyes, but the overall design of 2019 Acura RDX looks a bit boxier than before.
2019 Acura RDX – New Engine
While we won’t talk about interior since we can’t say anything more than that new SUV will have more space inside. The reason for that is that new RDX will sit on CR-V chassis. Aside from that, we must say that rumors about 4-cylinder engine are more than rumors now. We already thought that current model (2018 model year) will receive 4-cylinder engine, but that didn’t happen. To be more specific now probability is more than high. The word is about 2.0-liter turbo engine from Type R. It won’t be the 310 horsepower monster, but a detuned version of it. The sad news is that this engine will probably not be on offer along the V6, it will replace it. Another thing is that like all manufacturers, Acura aims to put alternative powertrains in term of hybrids. So we can also expect this version of the RDX too.
2019 Acura RDX – Release Date
Testing of luxury SUV will eventually come to an end, and it is possible that the new 2019 Acura RDX will arrive somewhere in the middle of 2018. Until then, stay tuned.
