2019 Kia K900 Redesign

In the U.S. Kia K900 just doesn’t sell. It arrived one year later, which is in 2013, after its presentation to North American soil. Even with all aggressive marketing this luxury sedan never made a success. In 2016 Kia sold 834 K900’s. Yes, it was not even a four digit number. This may be due to a number of reasons, but the main one must be well-established competition. Ok, let’s have a look. Mercedes-Benz E-class, Audi A6, and A7, BMW 5-Series, Jaguar XF, Volvo S90, Acura RLX, Genesis G80, should we even continue? But Kia won’t give up. Since 2019 Kia K900 was caught testing.

2019 Kia K900 – New Design

What can we tell? We firstly thought that K900 will be left as it is with the introduction of 2018 Stinger and drastically low sale results. But no, as we can see in the spy photos, K900 will receive modifications. And new Stinger was the starting point. We can see that on the front there is a new mesh pattern, same as on Stinger. New headlights are also different. Daytime running lights are now positioned below instead of above the headlights. A heavy wrap of vinyl can’t hide that 2019 Kia K900 looks far sleeker and longer than the current model.

2019 Kia K900 – Same Engines

Under the hood will probably remain the same engine options and that isn’t such a bad thing. Current model comes with 3.8-liter V6 with 311 horsepower and 293 lb-ft and this engine comes with a selection of first two trims. But there is also 5.0-liter V8 engine which produces 420 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Of course, we could see somewhat higher outputs in the production model. These two engines come with eight-speed automatic transmission and RWD. And there could be the catch. This Kia’s flagship sedan doesn’t offer AWD and it might be just one of the reasons for low popularity. 2019 Kia K900 could change that since there is a strong possibility for Kia to offer AWD as an option since we know that Stinger will offer AWD. If this happens, Kia will certainly attract more potential buyers for their flagship sedan.

2019 Kia K900 – Interior

The interior will probably go through some minor changes since current model already comes packed. Heated and ventilated front seats and voice-command navigation system are standard, but going further the pricing options, Buyer could also get Nappa leather seats and details on the console from real wood. There is also a possibility that LED headlights will also come as standard across the lineup, but 12.3-inch full-LCD instrument cluster will remain only for those with deeper pockets.

2019 Kia K900 – Safety

Since IIHS doesn’t want to even look at K900 due to very low popularity, we can’t say for sure that this model is as safest as possible. But when we look at ratings across Kia’s lineup we can see that only Kia Rio scored lower than “G” (good) in some crash tests. But even that could change for better with 2018 Kia Rio. So we can say that K900 certainly can’t differ too much from its siblings.

2019 Kia K900 – Possible Price

Another reason that lies behind poor sale numbers is the price. With a current starting price for 2017 model of $49.900, we can see why buyers opt for more famous brands. So even with these modifications for 2019 Kia K900, the starting price will probably remain just above $50.000 mark. And that is if Kia even wants to try and take some market share from other competitors.
